Richard T. Tinsley II

Director of Choirs, Egg Harbor Township High School

Richard T. Tinsley II is the Director of Choirs at Egg Harbor Township High School, where he directs the Concert Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Treble Choir, and two auditioned a cappella groups, aChoired Harmony and Tonal Point.

Tinsley’s ensembles have performed at the New Jersey Music Educators Association Conference, the ACDA High School Festival, and various events and festivals throughout New Jersey and across the country. The choir program offers students opportunities to perform a wide variety of music, from traditional choral literature to contemporary a cappella, while developing their musicianship, confidence, and performance skills.

Outside of EHTHS, Mr. Tinsley remains active in the choral music community as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician. His conducting experience includes the South Jersey Choral Directors Association Junior High Chorus (2018), the Central Jersey Music Educators Association Intermediate Honors Chorus (2025), and the South Jersey Senior High Chorus (2026). He also serves on the New Jersey Choral Procedures Board and works with Performing Arts Consultants as an adjudicator for music festivals and competitions.

Mr. Tinsley holds a Bachelor of Music from Rowan University (2013) and a Master of Music in Music Technology from Southern Utah University (2024). His background in music technology, live sound, and performance also plays a role in the way students experience and create music within the choir program.

The goal of the EHTHS choir program is to create an environment where students feel comfortable being themselves, are encouraged to try new things, and take pride in what they accomplish together. Whether preparing for a concert, competing with an a cappella group, or simply making music during class, the focus is on building strong musicians, meaningful experiences, and a sense of community that extends beyond the choir room.
